Schools' computer program spurs discourse over content |

Onslow County school leaders this week sought the removal of adult content from an educational YouTube channel often used by local teachers for classroom instruction. But efforts to curb exposure to such content would require a district-wide ban of YouTube’s #Education Channel, Onslow County Schools spokeswoman Suzie Ulbrich told The Daily News this week. She also said YouTube representatives explained they cannot remove featured videos from the channel, which local parents found to be laden with inappropriate topics — such as masturbation. “The problem now is that we are being told that it is an all-or-nothing proposition,” Ulbrich said. “We can’t filter it out one video at a time.” The “conversation” about the problem is not over, she added. |
