Should schools be giving out computers? |
Posted by: Justina Spencer |
Once upon a time, I actually saw my teenage daughter. My family had one computer in a shared space, and she did her homework and Facebooking there. Then the Lower Merion School District gave her a laptop, and she disappeared. Why hang with your parents when you can bring the whole digital world into your bedroom? Like many parents in Lower Merion, I'm deeply concerned about recent allegations that the school district spied on students via Web cams installed in its laptops. I'm also troubled by the bizarre lawsuit filed against the district by a local family, whose lawyer routinely takes to the public airwaves to decry his clients' loss of privacy. |
