The Cambridge foundation that offers inexpensive laptops to children in developing countries is getting a $5.6 million grant to develop a new tablet computer for poor kids. Marvell Semiconductor Inc. of Santa Clara, Calif., will issue the grant to One Laptop Per Child to fund development of a touchscreen machine that will be powered by Marvell’s chips. The new tablet, to be called the XO 3, will be a follow-up to the foundation’s original XO laptop computer, which was launched in 2007. |
