Within the EU, Portugal is the country where most youngsters own a laptop, but it is also where the greatest number of young girls and boys access the Internet from their bedrooms, which exposes them to greater risks. These were the findings of a study launched last Friday, at Lisbon’s Universidade Nova. The study warns of a lack of competence regarding the usage of the Internet by children, as well as by parents and guardians in overseeing and educating children. Carried out in 25 European countries, the study revealed that Portugal leads the ranks in terms of the highest percentage of children owning a laptop. In Portugal 65 percent of kids have a laptop, in comparison to the European average of 24 percent. |
