Study: laptop per child initiative does little to improve education |

Government could be well advised to have another look at its declared policy of every child having a laptop in the wake of findings by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The new study found that putting more computers in schools and in the hands of students will do little to improve the quality of education in Antigua & Barbuda and the region unless countries invest in teacher training and educational software. The Ministry of Information, Broadcasting, Telecommunications, Science and Technology announced plans to provide every high school student with a laptop as well as providing a number of computer access centres in primary and secondary schools across the island. |
