Chalkboards and raising hands are so old-school. Children of today would rather practice spelling on an iPad, answer their teacher via remote to a SMART board and type their outlines on a laptop — at least that's what they say at Twin Rivers Charter Academy. Students at the Yuba City school are utilizing technology in their everyday learning with support from a nonprofit foundation, with computers in every classroom, laptops for every middle-schooler and more than 100 iPads spread throughout campus. "Our philosophy is that's where kids are nowadays," said Principal Bob Loretelli. "You can't teach them like you used to. They are so stimulated outside, you can't use overheads or other tools because it bores them to death."
