Laptop, network glitches main topic of Huntsville school board meeting |

The technical glitches with the Huntsville school district's new Digital 1:1 Initiative were the main topic of conversation at Thursday's school board meeting, where a demonstration of the schools' fifth-grade math curriculum momentarily failed to work properly. Hampton Cove Elementary teacher Malena Smotherman and one of her students demonstrated the day's lesson in Envision Math, the new online program being used at the school. When the boy attempted to show the board members the quiz related to the lesson, however, the program appeared to freeze. Smotherman led the student through the keystrokes needed to bypass the problem and get the quiz to appear. "We've learned a lot of ways to get around things," Smotherman said. |
