Education Secretary Arne Duncan is urging school districts across the U.S. to make paper textbooks "obsolete," a stance that puts Huntsville City Schools ahead of most in the country.
The school district in August - to both applause and criticism - implemented a Digital 1:1 Initiative that put iPads and laptops in students' book bags instead of textbooks. The district has also transitioned to digital texts, which is something Duncan earlier this month said all local school districts should do as soon as possible. |
