PARENTS face paying about $1500 for computers and software for their kids - or risk them being on the wrong side of the "digital divide'' - because education experts fear the federal government will quit on its free laptops scheme. A new report says educators and teachers needed to move urgently to deal with the projected end to the $1.8 billion National Secondary School Computer Fund (NSSCF), which provides every secondary school student from Year 9 to 12 with a laptop. |
